Green Building and its Aspect

No Header

Green building refers to both a structure and the application of processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building’s life-cycle: from planning to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolition. It requires attention to the aspects of protecting, conserving, reducing the use of natural resources, maintaining the quality of indoor air quality.

The application of the Green Building aspect

1. Shape and Building Orientation

Green buildings generally have a thin building mass, both vertically and horizontally. The design of this building has more opening areas on the east side. It because the light in the afternoon is more hot and dazzling.

2. Shading & Reflectors

Shading light shelf helps to reduce the heat entering the building while still entering light efficiently. The length of shading on the outer side of the light shelf is determined so that sunlight does not dazzle human activities inside. The light that enters and is reflected off the ceiling will not be dazzling but will still be able to provide sufficient light.

3. Lighting System

The lighting system needs to use an intelligent lighting system. The intelligent lighting system can control the panel so the lights are turned off automatically by the sensor. So, saving energy from room lighting will be easy to do.

4. Water Recycling System

The Water Recycling System functions to treat dirty and used water so that it can be reused for flushing toilets or plant watering systems. With this system, the use of clean water can be saved and is an important aspect to support the green building concept.

The main aspects of green building

1. Materials

The materials used for building must be obtained from nature, and be a renewable energy source that is managed sustainably. The durability of proper building materials should be tested, but they still contain elements of recycled materials, reduce waste production, and can be reused or recycled.

2. Energy

To reduce the building’s electricity cost, you need to apply the solar panel. To save energy use, especially lighting and air conditioning, buildings should equip with windows. During the day, you should open the window to reduce electricity consumption. Windows of course can also improve the health and productivity of its occupants. Green buildings must also use energy-efficient lighting, energy-efficient electrical equipment, and renewable energy technologies.

3. Water

You can save water by installing a rainwater catchment system. It can flush plants or flush the toilets using recycle water. You can also use water-efficient appliances and using water-efficient toilets to save water.

4. Health

The use of building materials and furniture must be non-toxic, emission-free, low or non-VOC, and waterproof to prevent germs and other microbes from coming.
