Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic polymer type material. Polycarbonate sheet has many benefits such as simple working applies, is easy to print, and is easily formed in the heat so it is often used in the chemical industry. You will find 3 types of polycarbonate sheets, which are flat, wave, and double-walled hollow. Comparing to the other, Polycarbonate has many advantages, such as:
– High durability
– Clear as glass
– Easy to shape
– Eco friendly
– Easy to clean
In 1953, Bayer was patenting the Polycarbonate. Polycarbonate was a popular material in Indonesia in the 1990s. At that time, there is a significant demand for transparent roofing, so the production of polycarbonate sheets continued to grow. The Anti-UV component is adding to polycarbonate in some manufacturers’ innovation, so it makes it more durable.
The number of demands in the installation of polycarbonate, of course, you must be careful when applied the polycarbonate. The following are the steps in installing polycarbonate:
1. Cut the polycarbonate sheets using iron scissors, saw, or cutter. Laying the polycarbonate sheet on a flat surface so it will not scratch when you start to cut the sheet.
2. Construct a suitable framework.
3. Line up and cut the bars and edge bar infills so that they are the same length as the framework with an additional 50mm Overhang.
4. Drill holes in the center of the glazing bar base.
5. Apply eaves filler to the top of the front beam.
6. Place sheets into position between the aluminum channels.
