So what does it mean for construction professionals in particular?
AI on Construction Jobs
In this field, artificial intelligence (AI) can be widely applied to increase efficiency, productivity, and quality in various aspects to help sustain construction. The following are several types of AI that are generally used in the construction world:
- Planning and Design: The use of AI can help optimize construction project planning, resulting in more efficient designs. Apart from that, it can carry out analyses of various factors, such as material selection, building layout, and energy requirements.
- Project Management: AI is used to monitor and manage all projects more efficiently. This management includes schedule planning, resource allocation, and real-time monitoring of project progress.
- Work Safety: AI can be used to improve work safety on the sites. This is done by monitoring worker behavior and identifying potential dangers that may arise.
- Equipment Operators: With AI, it is possible to create robots and autonomous vehicles that can be used in construction work. Especially for carrying out dangerous or repetitive activities, such as moving materials and excavation work.
AI won’t suddenly make all roles redundant, but the construction industry will naturally force roles to evolve and adapt, learn where new technology can assist, and adopt the areas of AI and machine learning that add more value.
