The Covid-19 pandemic that occurred in early 2020 caused the steel market to stall for 2 months. ARFI Chairman said that the demand trend at the end of 2020 will follow the previous year’s trend. It means that the demand for steel’s production will increase in the last six months of 2020.

However, there was a decline in April-May 2020 due to the termination of construction work on the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility. We could say that the decline in demand because of the cessation of housing construction for low-income people.

The total production of mild steel by the end of the year will reach 1.3 million tons from the 2019 realization of 1.5 million tons. ARFI chairman is optimistic that demand will be stable and increase by the end of 2020. The increase occurred because many developers want to complete construction projects in 2020.

New Home for the Victim

There has been a lot of demand and production that reaches 100% on metal and steel roofs. Most of the metal and light steel roofing products are ordered to meet project needs. The projects that are being intensively implemented are the construction projects for national and regional hospitals, as well as houses for victims of natural disasters.

People who have lost their homes are in urgent need of new homes. The solution is to increase the use of steel material components. However, the use of steel in conventional houses is not more than 12% of all material components. Steel has many advantages such as strong, flexible, precise, and easy to apply.

The increasing percentage of the use of steel elements in housing means that it will be more efficient in terms of time and energy. With the right technique and system, choosing the right material can speed up the construction of a house.
